Welcome to Festalingwi, a celebration of European languages and culture for everybody.
Join us on Sunday 22 September from 12:00 to 21:30 at the University of Malta Valletta Campus for a fun and diverse programme.
Every year, Europe celebrates the European Day of Languages, through which we celebrate Europe’s rich linguistic and cultural heritage. We’ll be celebrating it in Malta by gathering for a day centred around languages – be it through taster lessons pertaining to a new language, games and quizzes in different languages, theatre shows and a concert featuring Brodu and Sean Borg entitled Ħoss il-Malti.
We also have animated reading sessions planned for children in different age groups, theatre shows by More or Less Theatre and a musical performance for children by Mariele Zammit, Justin Galea and Ġużè Camilleri.
Among the different European languages you can try out are Spanish, French, German, Ukrainian, Basque, and Maltese sign language. Our native tongue will also be given its due, with the programme featuring Kwiżżikk, a quiz on Maltese expressions, a workshop centred around the book Mela!, and the annual Żanżan Kelma spelling bee final.
