About
The three Maltese Rotary Clubs, led by RC Malta, supported by the Conference Permanent Secretariat within RC Urbino and the informal Board made up of members from Clubs involved in previous conferences are proud to organise the 6th Edition of the Rotary International Conference
The theme of this year's edition is UNESCO HISTORIC CITIES, “Sustainability and Historic Cities; challenges and opportunities”.
This biennial conference was initiated by the Rotary Club of Urbino several years ago. The conference alternates between being held in an Italian city one year and an international city the following year.
Last year, six Rotary Clubs from Tuscany—Siena, Chianciano/Chiusi/Montepulciano, Valdelsa, Siena Est, Alta Valdelsa, and Siena Montaperti—came together to organize the 5th International Conference, themed “UNESCO Historic Cities, Heritage of Peace.” Taking place from April 14-16, 2023, in Siena, San Gimignano, and Pienza, the conference attracted Rotary Clubs from UNESCO historic cities and sites around the globe.
The focus of this International Conference was the relationship between tourism and the world heritage city, which is perfectly summarized in the Sienese Constitution of 1309 with the sentence: “The happiness of foreigners cannot be divided from the dignity of citizens“.
Previous Rotary conferences were held in (1) Urbino, Italy (2) Istanbul, Turkey (3) Florence, Italy and (4) Zamosc, Poland.
The 6th edition of the conference will once again be hosted outside Italy, with Rotary Club Malta chosen as the organizers. The other two Malta-based Rotary Clubs—RC La Valette and RC Gozo—are also invited to join the organizing committee. The conference is set to take place at the Aula Magna, Valletta Campus, from April 4-6, 2025.
The theme of this year’s conference will be “Sustainability and Historic Cities; Challenges and Opportunities”.
Approximately 200 participants from various Rotary clubs in Italy, Turkey, Poland, and other countries with UNESCO-listed Historic Cities are expected to attend the conference.
The conference will be conducted in English, with simultaneous interpretation provided between English and Italian.
